Artist Statement – Timothy & Lauren Gregory
Nature by Design Art
Step into a realm where nature and imagination entwine. At Nature by Design Art, we transform humble stones into extraordinary sculptures—each piece a captivating illusion, a heartfelt creation, and a spark for conversation.
Timothy Gregory inherits a rich lineage of artistic talent, tracing back to his father and grandmother. Guided by a lifelong passion for sculptural form, his journey began with the crafting of cairns—balanced, floating stone formations that evoke harmony and balance. But one day, a single vision shifted his creative path:
What if a stone could open like a secret, revealing a world within? Seashells. Crystals. Life. Treasure.
From that moment, Timothy began to carve stone in ways never seen before unzipping its rugged exterior to unveil intricate, surreal scenes hidden inside. The result: sculptures that invite curiosity, surprise, and wonder.
When Timothy married Lauren, a new chapter began. Lauren brought a vibrant, imaginative perspective—embedding crystals, gears, coins, marbles, coral, wine corks, and other whimsical elements into their work. Together, they founded Nature by Design Art in 2021, fusing technical mastery with dreamlike storytelling.
Every piece is sculpted by hand. Timothy carefully shapes each stone and seamlessly integrates a real zipper, creating a striking three-dimensional illusion. Lauren curates the interior with care, selecting and placing every object to reflect the story, mood, and essence of the stone. The result is a cohesive, glossy, and breathtaking work of art—one that feels alive and full of secrets.
Their creations now reside in art museums, private collections, and luxury interiors around the world. From intimate tabletop pieces to dramatic entrance displays, each sculpture is a one-of-a-kind expression, crafted to inspire connection and wonder.
Join Timothy and Lauren on their journey. Explore the unexpected. Discover the beauty within.
